SEWA Bharat’s Genesis and Mission: Initiated in 1984, SEWA Bharat forms a crucial part of the national SEWA movement, dedicated to the empowerment of women in the informal sector. This organization was founded to address the unique challenges of geographic expansion and coordination within the SEWA movement. It unites a network of SEWA entities, all working towards advocating for the rights of women in informal employment while focusing on their financial autonomy, education, health, and social security.
Position: Community Engagement Associate
- Collaboration and Responsibilities: The role involves a close collaboration with the Communications Team and Programme Coordinators at SEWA Bharat. The primary responsibilities include developing, organizing, and disseminating original, high-quality Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. Additionally, the associate will be instrumental in implementing effective community outreach strategies to enhance SEWA Bharat’s visibility and impact within the communities it serves.
- Nature of Engagement: Full-time consultancy role.
- Primary Location: Delhi.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Relevant Experience: 2-4 years in communications, preferably within think tanks, government bodies, civil society organizations, or similar settings.
- Communication Abilities: Exceptional skills in both written and verbal communication in English and Hindi are essential. The candidate should excel in conducting grassroots-level workshops and possess a talent for storytelling within these communities.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in Hindi is mandatory; knowledge of additional regional languages is a plus.
- Content Creation Skills: Experience in producing audio-visual content, including filming, video editing, and narrative development.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in graphic design software such as Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
The position is based out of Delhi (New Delhi) but the candidate must be willing to travel to different states as per the project/organization requirement.
